Group Shoot in PhotoVerse
So, I took it upon myself so plan a sort of fun, laidback networking "event" if you will. Selfie Museums have been on the rise and becoming more and more popular over the years so, what better place to do so in one of the local Milwaukee Selfie Museums called PhotoVerse Selfie Museum!
Really, I just wanted to play with my camera ;)
but of course, to really do some worthwhile shots. Got some friends and people I've met through networking and events to come along and be apart. This is one of those times where it's a mix of models who have been modeling for years and others who had only done so a couple of times, if at all. It's always a fun challenge to work with models who have never actually done it but always had an interest in it. Just a tad bit easier to mold when they really want to learn, I think.
Mind you, I did invite more models then actually showed up but considering how long I've been involved with these kind of things, in one way or another, there's always a handful of people that don't show up. However, in the end, it was probably for the best. What I ended up with and editing was definitely more than enough, haha!
In planning this get together, I took shots of each setup that I wanted to you with them, was about 12 or so options that I chose, and let them choose which one(s) they wanted to model in. I was keeping this a little simple for everyone and had them style themselves, so whatever rooms that they could style outfits for were rooms they could shoot in.
In hindsight, I probably should have limited it a little more for my own sake. haha.
I also wanted to include a makeup artist or two to collaborate and network with as well. They would get to know new models , new artists I haven't actually worked with before for myself, and to also be able to shout them out on my social media posts.
Unfortunately, I could not get a makeup artist to attend. That was okay though, because I knew a couple of the attending models where good at makeup and would lend a helping hand if needed.
It just goes to show how much of a community the creative community can be. Everyone was excited to be there and meet each other. Models were helping each other with poses and hyping each other up, sharing shoes and accessories. Everyone was defiantly playing as a team and helping each other out; always nice to see that kind of thing.
Would I try to put something like this together again? Absolutely!
I've been apart of things like this before but, as far as initiating and putting it together myself, definitely. I'll slowly build but, defiantly get another photographer or two to be involved, more models, a bigger place or outdoors, it could be whatever. As long as it's with the right people bringing in the right vibe and energy, it will be another good time!
